Presentation
Phosphate Handling System Retrofit for Increased Production and Reduced Maintenance Cost
Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2026
Time: 3:30 PM – 3:55 PM
Location: Theater 1
Presenter: McKinnon Ray, Jenike & Johanson
Bulk material handling challenges such as plugging, reduced live capacity, wear, and corrosion can significantly impact fertilizer production efficiency and maintenance costs.
Retrofitting existing handling systems can offer a cost-effective alternative to complete equipment replacement. However, successful retrofits require a thorough understanding of material flow properties, operating conditions, and site constraints.
In this technical presentation, McKinnon Ray will examine engineering considerations for retrofitting phosphate handling equipment to improve reliability, safety, and life cycle costs. He will highlight how design and construction decisions influence project outcomes and share practical insights for engineers planning bulk solids handling system upgrades.
What You’ll Learn
- Common bulk solids handling challenges affecting fertilizer production and maintenance.
- Key considerations when retrofitting existing phosphate handling systems.
- How material flow properties and operating conditions influence equipment design.
- Practical approaches to improving system reliability, safety, and long-term performance.
