Vital Practices for Blending Sampling and Avoiding Segregation

2013-11-12 | 12:00 PM - | Remote

Presented by: Eric P. Maynard Moderated by: Christine Bernier Lienke, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering Webinar Details: Effective practices for powder blending sampling and avoidance of blend segregation are generally not taught at the academic level because they are thought of as only application-specific events and cannot be generalized. However, this is not the case. In fact, highly effective practices are frequently used to rapidly and uniformly blend bulk materials, generate reliable and robust sampling results, and ensure that post-blend handling does not result in material segregation. This webinar will introduce many of these effective practices in a top-level discussion format. Presenter Information: Eric P. Maynard, a senior consultant with Jenike & Johanson since 1996, has published over two-dozen papers on the storage, flow, and pneumatic transport of bulk solids. He lectures frequently on solids handling and pneumatic conveying through the ASME/AIChE Continuing Education Program and to individual companies. He has designed hundreds of handling systems for bulk solids, with a special focus on the Cement Industry. Eric has particular interest in crushing technologies for the minerals industry, as well as in the field of dust explosions and powder electrostatics. He is a member of ASME, AIChE, and the National Fire Protection Association. Eric received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
